You Might Be A Redneck If...

...you find your daughter in the barn playing "basketball" with a ball and a commode...finally a use for it!

One More Mouth to Feed

Yesterday we noticed a dog out in the field. We don't really get stray dogs here so this was exciting...at least to Mollie. The dog, obviously a pup, was very friendly and Mollie kept saying, "Mom, I don't think anyone is taking care of him, we need to feed him". So we did (what was I thinking?) He scarfed it down and Mollie spent the rest of the day "taking care" of him. She came in the house to get a blanket because "he's cold" and I found that he had jumped on the porch swing with her. Two hours later after not hearing a word out of her (which we all know is unusual!)I found her (and him) asleep on the swing. And then later he was asleep in a cardboard box in the barn. I'm going to put an ad in the paper to see if anyone is missing him but I have a feeling he's going to stay. We need another dog like we need another donkey but I can't bring myself to haul him to the pound. Sometimes I wish I could just say no! I was just informed by my daughter that "he's going to have to live with us forever" I said "why?" to which she replied, "because he's a good dog". Hey, what's one more mouth to feed?!

Double Trouble

Daddy brought home two kittens for Mollie. She LOVES them. Their names are Coal and Smokey (very original, Jer!). Until they get bigger they are residing in a cage in the office. Many times I've gone out there to find the kittens out and climbing all over Jerry while he's on a business call. I'm sure the people on the other end are wondering what all the "mewing" is about!

No Prince Here

Yesterday morning Daddy found a bullfrog. He thought Mollie would get a kick out of it so he put it in an old tire and went to wake her up to see his "catch". She loved it. We kept it for a couple of hours but before letting it go we got some pictures of Mollie giving her frog a kiss. It didn't turn into a prince. Maybe that good, she's a little young anyway!

Music To My Ears

Mollie and I went to see Zack's spring band concert. I was quite impressed with how good these kids are! I don't remember our band being that good, oh, I know we weren't! They have received high ratings the entire year and I can see why. Great job Zack, we are proud of you (and you looked handsome in your tux as well!)

Crazy Horse

I am trying to win a photo contest to a horse supply catalog. If I win, my picture gets on the cover but more importantly I get a gift certificate for $2,500.00 in merchandise from the catalog. Needless to say I could use that! I keep entering pictures hoping to up my chances. I thought it would be unique to take Butterscotch's pic standing on his hind legs with the trainer. At least it's different and might catch the judge's eye! Not many ponies, ahem...excuse me... miniature horses will tolerate this. Hope I win, show season is about to begin!

What Was I Thinking!

O.k., so I had a weak moment. I had been saying no everytime we've gone into Orscheln since March but this time I just couldn't say no to the 4 year pleading, "Momma can I PLEASE have a chickee" or more that fact that Orscheln was having a clearance sale on them. The problem was in order to get the clearance price you had to buy all of them. Mollie is now the proud owner of her own "flock" of 18 (yes I said 18) California White baby chicks. Mind you we already have 22 chickens. Guess we'll just have to add onto the chicken house!
