Kitchen Update

We have cabinets. It didn't go as well as I had hoped and after much wailing and gnashing of teeth (on my part) the problems have been or will be resolved. Today the granite went in. They didn't get it finished and will be back tomorrow. The most trying part is the sink and the 2 installers hashed out a strategy for almost an hour. They don't like apron front sinks and cutting the curve is difficult, but I think they will do fine. I will post pics when they are done. We still have weeks to go. The wiring needs to be finished, beadboard to be installed, lighting and that little thing called plumbing still yet to do. The porch needs walls, a pocket door to be put in and the wood floor installed. It definitely is starting to take shape and I think my kitchen will truly be a dream come true.

Bigger Fish To Fry

Grandpa took Mollie fishing yesterday. They winds finally died down enough to make it worth a try. Grandpa no sooner got Mollie set up with her pole when she hit on a nice size bass! She was very proud and came running into the kitchen to show him off. They did put him back so yesterday was not his day to meet his maker in the frying pan! Mollie will hold out for a bigger fish to fry!

Smitten For Kittens

Bubblegum lost her kittens 3 weeks ago and when she was only skinny for a couple of days and then started to get big around the middle I began to wonder. She gave birth to 4 kittens yesterday. Nature must have decided that she was having way too many and she just lost some. She has four adorable kitty kats and Mollie is in hog heaven. Anyone need a cat, or two or three or four?!

Go Ahead and Admit Me Now!

Jerry had some time off this week so he decided to go ahead and tear out the existing cabinets. Our previous plan was to install the other 3 sides of the room, run the plumbing to hook up the new sink then disconnect the old sink and tear out the old cabinets. They will now be installing ALL the cabinets next week, which is great but being without cabinets is grating on my nerves. The sink goes today which means I'll be without a kitchen sink for probbly 2-3 weeks. Hello bathtub and paper plates! The problem with taking the cabinets out early is that everything in those cabinets had to go somewhere and that somewhere is in my dining room and living room. Now the mess is overtaking basically the entire ground floor of our home. Mollie asked for a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich yesterday and I couldn't find the peanut butter amongst the many boxes! Need the frying pan? Hhhhmmmm... which floor would that be stored on? Silverware is on the living room chair! This is kind of like moving but with out the truck! I know my house doesn't normally reflect it but I do like things in order and get real crabby if it's a mess. Guess what? I'M CRABBY! I know in the scope of life this doesn't amount to a hill of beans but being that I'm convinced that I'm ADD (and so is my family) a cluttered house clutters my already cluttered brain! I'm ready for order, for clean, for neat and tidy. Until then I just may be residing in the loony bin!

Easter

I pray that you had a blessed Easter and spent some time reflecting on what Easter really is. The weather was warm, the birds were singing, the food was great, the egg hunt fun, the company wonderful but most of all the fact that HE died on the cross some 2000 years ago to pay the penalty of our sin so that you and I, not might, but WILL have eternal life if you accept Him as your Saviour. Have you done that?

Easter Geese

What every kid wants for Easter...geese. I had a weak moment at the local farm store. I went in for a new brooder bulb and came out with a pair of goslings. We'll see, hopefully they don't grow up to be the kind of geese that chase people around the yard. If so, I guess we'll have roast goose for dinner! They were just 2 days old when I got them and they seem to think Mollie is their Momma. They follow her and actually want to be held. When she puts them down they make a lot of noise as if to say pick me back up! Oh, by the way their names are "Quackers" and "Milk". Original, huh?!
